A word about me…(updated Oct. 17, 2016…yes, it has been a while!)
I am a believer in the resurrected Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who, as God, denied His place in Heaven to come to Earth as fully man, after living a perfect life died for my sins, and now sits at the right hand of God interceding for me.
I was born in Japan to American parents and through a calamity of errors was required to gain my citizenship to America by naturalization in 1965. I am married to my lovely and wonderful lifemate who has graciously demonstrated her obedience to and love for God by bringing forth six wonderful children into our family. It is a true testament of her faith in God that I am here today.
Through the encouragement of my Dad, Charles Gilbert Rogers, my training has incorporated both professional academics in medical school, seminary, Chaplain training, as well as, hands on farming as a child and later as an adult with my family. This has resulted in shaping me into an individual who appreciates the grandeur of my God in the sweat of a man’s brow, the academic pursuit of knowledge, practicing ‘presence’ while listening to the stories of other individuals, and the joy of seeing and participating with my wife and children as they expand their faith in God through home education, mission experiences, and pursuit of God’s pleasure in their lives through professional growth, marriage, and now, grandchildren!!
After many years of searching, I now fulfill my God’s pleasure by serving as Director of Missions for the Richland Baptist Association (www.Richlandba.org), and doing volunteer Chaplain work. Also, I work with the Louisiana Baptist Convention Disaster Relief organization as the State Medical Coordinator (www.koinonia-health.org).
All of these things are predicated upon a wonderful, loving mother, Patricia Anne Smith Rogers, who each night, when I was a young child, would read to me from the “The World of Pooh: The Complete Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner”. My Mother opened my mind to a world in which a stuffed “silly old bear” asked some of the deepest philosophical questions regarding love, community, and family in a way that a small child could understand.
This would be the bridge that opened my heart to the only source of love, community, and family that has ever existed and will never change or leave me, God Almighty. It is in this spirit that this page has come about. Please, join me on a spiritual pursuit of reconciliation that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ lived out during his life on Earth and teaches in His Word, the Bible.
Blessings,
Charles, Jr.
Charles, Jr., what a timely blessing to read this tonight. As usual, God knew when I would need to see this. I will always thank God for Charles Gilbert Rogers and Patricia Smith Rogers and the ways in which their actions, not just their words, inspired me. I have fallen in many mudd puddles and am still searching for the one that will make my heart sing with the sure knowledge that I am finally where God wants me to be.
With Love from your Forever Sister-in-law,
Jeannie Rose
